Top 5 Pros and Cons about Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sony recently made waves in the mobile market with a unique mobile phone that spilled the water everywhere. With the Xperia Z Ultra, Sony has launched a phablet that can amaze you with its size and specifications. Premium design and craftsmanship is evident in the impressive catalogue of Xperia series smartphones. But with this device Sony has made an attempt of doing something “out of the box”.

This Humungous device features a 6.4 inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display is enriched with bright colors and is armed by a shatter proof - scratch-resistant glass. Sailing on Android OS, v4.2 Jelly Bean, this phablet possesses superb photography abilities with a 8.0MP rear camera and a 2MP Front facing camera.

This large sized smartphone relies on the power of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor that clocks 2.2GHz, to deliver the desired performance. Storage capacity will never pose a hurdle as this device is well equipped with a 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 64 GB). All these configurations require a powerful battery backup and for that matter a 3050 mAH battery stands tall on the user’s expectation.

Now the specs are not enough to describe how well a device performs practically. Like any device, Sony Xperia Z Ultra also carries a lot of advantages and disadvantages that can label this device as a wizard or an egghead.

Pros:

·       A rich and vivid display enriched with 16M colors and the popping colors instantly jive with your eyeballs. Full HD display will result in a lavish video viewing and surfing experience and ensures that the user’s eyes are glued on the device only.

·         The processing speed of this phablet is as rapid as a bullet. The credit for this brisk speed goes to a 2.2 GHz Quad Core Krait 400 CPU with a chipset of Qualcomm MSM8274 or MSM8974 Snapdragon 800. Such a mammoth device requires a powerful processor that can support the high end functionalities without any hindrance.

·       If users think that this sleek and trim phablet is vulnerable to rough usage, then Sony has equipped this device with a unique feature that will contradict their corresponding thought. This device hosts an IP58 certified shatter proof, dust proof and water resistant display. This means that the triluminos display is armed against the three most common mobile damaging factors.

·        Multimedia, games and applications fanatics will never face a hurdle named “memory constraint”, as this device is embedded with a 16GB internal storage which can further be amplified up to 64GB.

·         One of the much anticipated accessories with the Xperia Ultra Z is a Sony Smart Bluetooth headset. This accessory is NFC enabled and gets associated with the device via a Bluetooth. This eases the prospect of answering the calls and music playback on such a gigantic smartphone.

Cons:

·       The major problem with the above discussed Bluetooth set is that it requires the phablet in the desired proximity for its optimum usage. This issue creates a lot of hassle for the users for whom their smartphone resides in their pockets.

·        For ensuring water and dust resistivity, Sony has landed up covering all the essential external ports with a plug. These plugs are not of premium quality and a bit off mishandling may break them

·        Another major issue which the Xperia Z also faced is the protective water resistant coating on the display. This coating limits the viewing angles, thus hampering the viewing experience on a Full HD display.

·         This device carries a tag of a fully fledged Tablet, which restricts its portability when considered as a smartphone. User is always attracted towards a big screen but the company must think in a practical way to come up with a screen size that is feasible with the daily lifestyle of a user and is convenient to carry.

·      The major setback comes from the multimedia section where the rear 8MP camera lacks a LED flash. This means that the phone is handicapped to low light photography.

Every device has its own pros and cons. Ultimately its users who decide whether a device meets their requirement or not.
